On the 18th of June 1815 the final battle of the Napoleonic Wars was fought at Waterloo, about a dozen miles south of Brussels, Belgium. This was one of the most decisive battles in the history of Europe. The Duke of Wellington was leader of the British forces. However victory was only possible by the timely arrival of Marshal Blucher and his Prussian army.

The first elements of Blucher's Prussians arrived in the afternoon, but were push back. Napoleon then made his last attempt under Marshal Michel Ney, to advance against Wellington's forces. Standing firm until the French were very close, they attached upon orders from Wellington. The French attack was thrown into confusion and at this moment the Prussian army intervention on Napoleon's right flank secured the victory in one of the most important battles in history.
