The Battle of White Plains, October 28, 1776
"This is the unfinished pencil drawing on canvas of a large painting (51x32")of the Battle of White Plains. The Hessian Fusilier Regiment Von Lossberg advances through a burned out woods after crossing the Bronx River. Still have more work to do with the drawing, especially on the guns and flags. Then I'll give it an overall tone, let that dry and start the actual painting. I spent about 6 months posing around 25 models for this one here at the studio. It's going to take a long time especially with all the details of the guns, mitre caps and flags which can be tedious. More than likely I'll have to work on this on and off due to other commission work. In a few weeks after delivery of some uniforms and flags I'm having done I'll be posing the next big one. I'll do occasional progress reports when there is more to show."

"6 days later with numerous interruptions I drew all the penciled figures over with a brush and raw umber. Now ,I'm beginning to rough in everything. I prefer to have the entire painting roughed in leaving no base color. Then I start to bring up the details gradually , that's what takes the time. There will be a good bit of smoke due to fires burning in the woods. Scroll down to the post below if you want to see about the subject etc. This is the battle of White Plains."

The third format is a Open Edition Giclee Printed on German 100% Cotton Rag Art Paper which comes with a Signed Certificate of Authenticity and is embossed with Mr. Troiani's initials. The image is 27" wide by 17" high, the full print size is 31" wide by 24" high and is $175.
The Art of Don Troiani watermark will not be on any of the actual prints.
