Saturday, June 15, 2019                    10 am to 4 pm
Humber College Lakeshore Campus
3199 Lake Shore Boulevard West,  Toronto Ontario

For 2019 our annual show will be returning to Humber College.  Our first year there was a great success.

Humber College has welcomed us with open arms and we are excited about our new venue.  The show will be in one large space with excellent lighting and we will be able to accomodate more vendors and displays.   Access and parking will be easier and we will have accommodations and food services on site.

"On Parade" is the Ontario Model Soldier Society's annual public show and celebration of the hobby of model soldiers.  Thousands of model soldiers from many historical eras and countries will be on display - everything from small wargames figures to 1/6 scale figures and vehicles.

For detailed directions to the show and Humber College facilities see our Show Directions handout.

Humber College

Humber College Lakeshore Campus Main Building

Show admission is $5 per adult.  Children under 12 are admitted free.

Early floor access (between 9 am and 10am) will cost you an additional $5.

The college is offering accomodations in their student residence wing which is in the same building as the show.  The price is extremely reasonable compared to GTA hotel rates and members who stayed there last year had very favourable comments.

Here is a review from one of our members who stayed at the college last year:

The rooms are spartan but they are clean and comfortable . There are two separate bedrooms with a double bed in each with a small desk and bedside lamp. There is a kitchen with a full size fridge, standard size kitchen sink , a fair amount of cupboard space, an adequate micro wave oven, and a small table with two chairs. The bathroom has a large shower stall but no bathtub,a small sink and standard toilet. There is no TV or radio and no phone so you would need a cell phone.
We found the area to be rather quiet and relatively sound proof with one opening window placed very high on the wall.
Beds aren't remade in the morning and the rooms not cleaned daily but again everything is very clean when checking in. There is a small food court but I am not aware of the hours that it is open. The parking is free on the weekends and I believe the cost for parking at other times is a reasonable $7.00 per day, the cost for staying there at that  time ( June) were around $80.00 plus tax but no extra room taxes so prevalent in the Toronto area. We highly recommend these accommodations and we will  definitely be staying  there for the  show next June. A real plus is that students are NOT in residence at this time and that may explain why it is rather quiet.

You may still book a room by phoning Humber College Monday to Friday, between 8 am and 4 pm at 1-888-548-6327. Tell them you would like to be placed in the OMSS Show room area.

"Name That Soldier"

We've added a new feature this year.  Two of our most knowledgeable members, Guy Elliot and Jim Matresky have volunteered to host an identification service they're calling "Name That Soldier".  Got some figures in your collection but don't know who made  them or when?  Bring them down for a free consultation.  They won't be doing price appraisals but you're welcome to consult any of our vendors on that score.

Thousands of model soldiers on display from many periods and armies.  Pageantry across the ages.  Military parades, bands, vehicles and artillery.  Large scale (1/6) figures and vehicles.

William Britain, W. Britain or simply Britain's, no matter what we are called our name is synonymous with toy soldiers. Since 1893 W. Britain has been producing toy soldiers and military miniatures with attention to detail, quality and authenticity. Each model figure is cast out of metal and hand painted to the highest possible standards. Our ranges include traditional toy style figures in 1/32 scale (54mm / 2.125" tall) and a large selection of realistic matte finished figures in 1/30 scale (58mm / 2.3125" tall). Most major time periods are covered from the eighteenth century up to the conflicts of the twentieth century. Whatever your interest, W. Britain has figures and accessories for your collection!
