Paperback
Lavishly illustrated with Troiani's masterful artwork, including those found in private collections
Contributors include some of military history's biggest names, such as Stephen W. Sears, Robert K. Krick, and the late Brian Pohanka
Troiani's art reflects his in-depth knowledge of the time period and battle details that are painstakingly researched and evaluated, with insightful commentary for each piece of art in the book. His extensive knowledge of artifacts began as a teenager in the 1960's while searching for Revolutionary War artifacts along the Hudson River. On his first day out he found a cannon ball and was hooked as a collector. He uses many authentic artifacts to help create authentic detail. His network of advanced collectors, historians and curators are second to none and help inform his art. I was intrigued by so many aspects of his methodology, especially his use of live models and his religious attention to the detail of landscape, clothing , gear and accessories. I have to say he has certainly accomplished mission to "capture crucial periods of our heritage through accurate presentations". This commitment results in "soulful" paintings filled with history, color, excitement and emotion. Just awesome.
