Coldstream Guards Battalion Coy Officer Marching, 1792
In February 1792 Captain James Hewgill – an officer in the Coldstream Guards Regiment – published a series of pictures, representing each regiment of the British army. The images show two figures for each regiment and were by E. Dayes, at that time the official draughtsman of the Duke of York, and color tinted by the famous English artist, Joseph Mallard William Turner, who was only 17 years old at the time. This figure represents a Battalion Officer of that regiment marching with his sword at shoulder.
